Where It Came From

Crazy is but an understatement – an immature and nonsensical choice for this description – nonetheless it has made its throne as the first domino to fall in an array of many. It only goes down from here.

To defy nature seems as silly as anything. It’s an apple, not a pear, don’t you see? From the moment the seed and soil germinate, the tiny sprout is already either an apple tree or a pear tree. The shape, the flavor, the texture, and yes even the minerals within the two fruits do not equivocate. Why we deny these two obvious principles when the essence of humanity’s value and composition are under attempted comprehension, begs the question of obscurity, paradox, and irony.

Still the moment our despondent imaginations demand attention, unequivocally we exclaim anything and everything true, even, of course, when it is indeed false.

Are we not trained, in sloth and comfort, to do just this? The theater is a retreat from reality, drugs a furlough against all inconvenient sensibility, and automobiles a sort of barrier from a solid foundation – one in which our feet must touch the undeniable ground as we walk, one in which feelings are felt, one in which life is lived in reality, not through a screen.

We’ve lost the direct. We’ve adopted countless barriers between us and actuality. Filling it is polluted imagination, not the childlike purity thereof, but the limping along to the song of technology and ‘progress’ version of imagination.

“Thank you for embracing a little queer black girl form Chicago” read a New York Times headline quote in regards to a twenty-seventeen Emmy Award acceptance speech.

However many years ago there were not queer little girls from Chicago to play roles in shows or films. If a director ever wrote up such a role, an actor had to truly act it out.

It comes from misused imagination, if there exists such a thing.

It comes from surrender to comfort’s temptation.

It comes from abuse of the mind. Of thought. Of sense.

It doesn’t quite make sense to walk without feet on the ground or call that pear an apple.

And one last sentiment: despite the “scientific evidence” of proven psychological and/or genetic disarray as cause of such (what truly is) crazy nonsense, evolutionary laws work pretty darn hard to ensure successful reproduction of the human race. How else do you think you exist? So here’s the kicker: traits that prohibit reproduction and continuity of humanity are eliminated. That’s just how it works.

Don’t deny the reality or the reality will be denying your existence. Simple as that.
